“My mechanic showed me all 4 struts(f&r) are leaking too much and that they have to be replaced. I called manhattan beach Toyota and they said it is not covered under any recall or warranty & it will cost over $1400.00 to replace. It took the mechanic over hours to complete replacing all 4 struts. I am really shocked by this finding, it shouldn't have happened, and Toyota should take care of this problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10562303, filed 2014-01, 65,000 miles“I hear and feel a clunk, pop or knock type of noise when turning the steering wheel left or right while driving slowly or backing out of garage or parking. I noticed that there are many complaints about the same problem but Toyota is not recalling for fixing the problem, instead dealers are charging to fix the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10445469, filed 2012-01, 68,000 miles“While driving at low speeds (1-5 MPH) backing up or forward - a clunking sound is felt on steering wheel. Also, a bit of looseness is felt on the connection of the steering wheel and the tires. The clunking doesn't happen while driving above 10 MPH. Dealer (capital Toyota in san jose, ca) told me that the steering shaft needs to be re-greased. I'm concerned that there are lots of other 2007 Camry owners with the same problem, and some have lost control.”
NHTSA complaint #10484537, filed 2012-11, 40,000 miles“As I was traveling home and my steering wheel start to have a mind of its own so it veered to the right and I lost control so the car spent around we end up on the left side. Seatbelt was not helping protect us at all my daughter seatbelt allowed her to slide under breaking her right femur and my right femur on plus my ankle had to be reconstructed. Airbags came out 30 minutes after the wreck. In tampa. State road. Steering wheel locked up. Accelerating ' pull right and then left. When got car, went through barbed wire fences. Par indicates hit tree, driver does not remember. …”
NHTSA complaint #11192787, filed 2019-03, 20,000 miles“I was driving my 2007 Toyota Camry in a left turn and suddenly the steering wheel was locked up. I tried to hit the brakes, the brakes was locked up too. I lost control of the car and ran into woods. Car hit a tree in front and stopped, but none of the air bags deployed. Thus, my head hit steering wheel and got two cuts on my forehead. I was sent to er and had a surgery with 11 stitches. The car is a total lose now.”
