Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I had to have an actuator replaced on my 2010 Chevrolet Impala. When I called other mechanic shop (including GM), was uninformed that this is a common issue with impalas. I also had several coworkers with impalas have the same issue. Considering this issue is so common in these vehicles, there should be a recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10663908, filed 2015-02, 17,978 miles

“The unibody of this vehicle has become completely rusted/rotted to where the car is undriveable. This has been inspected by a service center, and I was told it is dangerous and beyond repair. I am sick about this, as there are MANY other makes of vehicles older than mine that do not have this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11692216, filed 2025-10

“The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. While entering the parked vehicle, it was discovered that the front passenger floor had a puddle of water after it rained. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that the water entered the inside of the vehicle through the firewall. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The VIN was unavailable. Updated 10/17/17”

NHTSA complaint #10959651, filed 2017-03, 25,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that she believed that the accelerator pedal and brake pedal were too close together and she depressed them both at the same time. The contact felt that the parking brake release was too high up. The contact sent a letter to the manufacturer who advised her to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The failure mileage was 37,500. Updated 01/24/11 the consumer stated on three occasions she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. …”
