“I have had two Chevrolet impalas and the trunks are extremely heavy. The trunk has dented my daughter's skull, hit my other daughter in the head and hit me in the head twice. Compensation for this would be nice. Also, the latch to hold both trunks open was broken because it was so heavy. And the vehicle is very hot because the A/C censor needs to be replaced but don't know what it looks like.”

NHTSA complaint #11035549, filed 2017-10, 178,000 miles

“I am the second owner of this car and an avid Chevrolet owner we only own Chevrolet vehicles. My car is white and the paint is coming off starting on the trunk. I have not seen an Impala like mine that the paint is not coming off. I used to brag about Chevrolet but now I cannot. I can't wash the car often because the paint rips away every time. I would not be making this complaint if mine was the only one I have seen with this issue. Chevrolet may not be my next choice when making an investment in another vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10703038, filed 2015-04, 80,000 miles

“My 2001 Chevrolet Impala makes a very loud banging noise when rotating the steering wheel while stopped or at very low speed, such as when pulling out of a parking space.I had the vehicle inspected by the Chevrolet dealer where the car was purchased new, the inspection revealed faulty sub frame welding. …”

NHTSA complaint #10128372, filed 2005-07, 1 miles

“While driving through winding road, front left tire went into pothole causing ignition switch to turn engine off and lost power steering, causing loss of control and crash.”

NHTSA complaint #10599044, filed 2014-06, 150,012 miles

“The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle has been in the repair shop approximately four times and they stated that the steering shaft and the frame in front of the wheels failed. The brakes are currently failing. The contact hears grinding metal when braking, driving over bumps, and when reversing. The dealer has yet to determine the cause of the brake failure. The noise has intensified. The failure mileage was 27,000 and current mileage was 57,000.”
