“The airbag on the passenger side blew up. On robin hood rd when car was almost stopped for a traffic light on buena vista rd. When the airbag blew up with my daughter-in-law in that seat. Calling Chrysler they said there was no recall on it and they would do nothing because of the age of the car. A month earlier I spent $2000 on repairs on this car and now it is useless. Starting the car it smells like it's going to catch on fire. The car was in motion and almost at a complete stop for a traffic light when the airbag exploded which was very scary. …”

NHTSA complaint #11242148, filed 2019-08, 134,553 miles

“On july 10, 2008 we noticed that our airbag light would come on when we took a corner, but it would go off as we drove straight. It kept doing this for about three weeks and then the air bag light stayed on continually and the horn stopped working. We had it checked out and was tolded it was the air bag clock spring. We talked to the Chrysler dealership and was told that this year was not under the recall for the airbag clock spring.”

NHTSA complaint #10242735, filed 2008-09, 91,000 miles

“We were hit broadside by a vehicle that ran a stop sign on the passenger side. We are equipped with side airbags that failed to deploy. Chrysler investigated and stated the airbags operated correctly and gave us no contact information to discuss this with them. My wife received hip and back injuries.”

NHTSA complaint #10116471, filed 2005-04, 45 miles

“My front air bags deployed while driving the vehicle at 30mph under normal conditions and were not triggered due to impact of the front bumper. Additionally, the air bags only partially inflated and would not have provided full protection had there been a frontal impact. I am concerned that the manufacturer has not been able to tell me why this occurred nor have they expressed much interest in understanding why it occurred. Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of this incident.”

NHTSA complaint #10303864, filed 2010-02, 120,000 miles

“On monday, may 3, 2010, I was driving my 2003 Chrysler Town And Country mini-van and made a right turn into a parking space as the passenger side airbag abruptly exploded out of my dashboard. No impact prompted the malfunction of the airbag. Whatever caused the passenger side bag to explode did not activate the driver's side air bag. The incident was investigated by our insurance company and the authorized dealership for Chrysler to confirm that no impact had occurred. The seatbelts were not affected in anyway. …”
