“My vehicle is a 2019 Dodge Durango that the engine light came on. I took it to the dealership and they say that there is a vacuum leak at the engine defined by the evap (evaporative emission system).”
NHTSA complaint #11245262, filed 2019-08, 20,000 miles“On july 2, 2020, I was driving my Dodge Durango up an isolated steep mountain road in the sierra nevada at about 20 MPH when it suddenly stalled on a steep grade in the road. I was able to apply the emergency brakes to prevent the car from rolling backwards. There were no engine warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel and the car had been operating at normal temperature. After trying to the restart the car, the engine at first began to operate, then almost immediately hesitated and died. I tried again with the same results, and even attempted to apply the gas pedal to no avail. …”
NHTSA complaint #11338167, filed 2020-07, 7,965 miles“The vehicle fails to start reliably. I have made all the necessary repairs in an attempt to have the car to start reliably. I have replaced items that the average owner would think are normal wear-and-tear items around the starting system. I have also replaced items that the average owner would not think would wear out and need replacing. All of this work was done out of pocket. A warranty or recall covered none of the work. Yet the car still does not start reliably. I believe this is a safety issue because it could lead to the vehicle losing power on the road and leaving occupants stranded. …”
NHTSA complaint #11763822, filed 2026-09“I took my car into Fairfield Dodge (Fairfield Texas). I have taken my car in about 3 times already. The first two was to do test on it. I can be driving my car and smell Gas as if I stepped in it. the smell makes me sick. I can park my car and the smell is just ask bad on the outside as it is in the inside. the car dealership said oh we have found the problem. They had my car for 1mth and 2 days and changed the fuel take and canaster, oh that is it. They said it is fixed WRONG. I smell the same smell, and just as strong as I did when I took it in. …”
NHTSA complaint #11516217, filed 2023-04“The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was restarted; however, occasionally the vehicle was slow to restart or failed to restart. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined the TIPM had caused the failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on the highway, the vehicle stalled. …”
