“On the morning of 10/09/2024, I started my 2019 Dodge Durango and exited the vehicle, after 2 minutes the entire interior of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The drivers side seat warmer appears to have malfunctioned causing the vehicle to set of fire, including glass break, paint peeling and interior burning”
NHTSA complaint #11619623, filed 2024-10“The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH, the headrest air bag inadvertently deployed and hit her on the back of the head. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated she continued to drive the vehicle and made a stop when she exited the highway. The contact sustained whiplash but did not seek medical assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11430676, filed 2021-08, 60,000 miles“The driverside headrest has spontaneously deployed, it is due to an internal failure where a plastic retention bracket cracks. It is a known issue for earlier model years, but 2019 has been left out of the warranty extension (2018 is the end of the current coverage period). This is the same headrest design/part that is covered for repair in earlier years, and is an $1,100 replacement. We would like this repair to be considered for the warranty coverage as it is the same issue being acknowleged and addressed for earlier model years.”
