“The headrest on the passenger seat popped open while I was driving, scared me. Now I am afraid, my drivers side will do the same while I am driving causing a terrible hazard for me. I went to dealership and they said not their problem and wanted to charge me $900 to fix it. This should be recalled. I did not have them do it due to the cost to me.”
NHTSA complaint #11340823, filed 2020-07, 38,000 miles“I was sitting in my parked car, engine off, waiting for someone. The driver's side headrest popped open suddenly. I cannot put it back in position because the plastic tabs inside are broken. I am thankful I was leaning forward reading a book and that I was not driving as this could have been painful and/or dangerous.”
NHTSA complaint #11400050, filed 2021-03, 94,312 miles“Takata recall. Passenger headrest exploded, sounded like a gunshot and nearly caused an accident. I am disabled and drive with hand controls. I am very much afraid of the same thing happening with my driver's headrest. Replacement charge was $1006.64. I have the invoice but can't scan! I was just driving in my subdivision when it happened. Invoice date is 7-2-18.”
NHTSA complaint #11172205, filed 2019-01, 30,209 miles“While my husband was driving the passenger side headrest deployed for no reason! I happened to be sitting in the seat at the time and thankfully it didn't hurt me but it scared the crud out of me!! We were actually only going about 5mph as we were coming out of the parking lot of a chic-fil-a.”
NHTSA complaint #11361327, filed 2020-09, 82,111 miles“While driving to work, the driver side head rest deployed. I was not involved in an accident, just idling at a stoplight. Thankfully, I did not sustain any injuries. I called the dealership I purchased from and the service department said that the repair cost would be out of my pocket. How is this ok when it clearly has to be a manufacturer malfunction. This seriously needs some attention and a recall issued.”
