Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Hit from behind and both ours seats broke. Reported to Dodge and they told us seats were designed to deflect rearward so as to absorb impact. They failed to tell us how we are suppose to bring vehicle to a stop or to keep from going to oncoming traffic as we were flat on our backs. Just don't believe that logic. It sounds like a defect to me.”

NHTSA complaint #10145409, filed 2005-12, 15,000 miles

“I reached in through the right side door to get a blanket that was stuck in the back seat, and I pulled the #1 strap on the back seat with my left hand, the back of the seat slammed down onto my right hand, hyperextending my thumb, fracturing it and causing a partial tear in the ligament.”

NHTSA complaint #10136300, filed 2005-09, 29,580 miles

“I have not been able to properly secure a convertible care seat in the rear facing position in the stop-n-go seats, even utilizing the latch system. I have tried two different seats. I can not get the seat to the require level with the ground as indicated on the seat and cannot get it secure enough to prevent the seat from moving more than an inch.”

NHTSA complaint #10150319, filed 2006-02

“Power locks malfunctioning, lights go on and off on their own, driving at night dangerous. Something wrong with electronic systems. Work one time than they dont. Now my lights want to stay on or come on randomly n I end up with dead battery. Locks dangerous when you can't unlock rear door to get child out. Turn signal doesn't turn off on its own. Stalls after filling fuel tank. Power drivers seat has stooped working properly slso, I'm short and would rather not have to sit on top of sir bag but not all of the adjustment functions are working properly. …”

NHTSA complaint #10825737, filed 2016-02

“We rented a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with the stow and go seats. The seat back for the second row seats returns to the down position under considerable spring pressure. On three occasions, members of my family were struck in the face by the headrest when the seat back was released by raising the lever on the outside of the seat. In one case, my daughter was struck in the jaw when she bent over to release the seat back. I was struck in the face twice: once on the left side and once on the right side. In both cases my glasses were torn from my face. …”
