“I have a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan I was parked in my driveway and my headrest deployed and hit me in the back of the head,I called my Dodge dealer and was informed its not cover under warranty. The vehicle never been in a accident, I dont understand how these headrests are still being allowed to be installed. Looking at it you can tell the plastic that holds the pin failed.”

NHTSA complaint #11415442, filed 2021-05, 48,525 miles

“The above vehicle was a rental vehicle being demonstrated to me to show the amount of rear luggage space available. When the rental representative was demonstrating the rear seat stowage system he inadvertently released what appeared to be an unnecessarily strong rear row seat back release spring which kicked the seat back down hard and fast enough to hit me in the head, scrape and bruise my face and head, damage my glasses, knock me to the floor of the van and and cause a concussion, which I was treated for in the hospital emergency room. …”

NHTSA complaint #11207646, filed 2019-05, 1,522 miles

“The car was parked in the driveway. I was sitting on the driver side middle seat, not sitting back, as the seat was reclined too far for me to sit with my back against the back of the seat. When I was trying to bring the seat back forward from the leaned back position, the head rest came down and slammed into my neck it's as if the mechanism thought the seat were going to be stowed into the floor. I have been suffering from a massive headache since this happened. I will be going to my doctor when I return home, to see if there is any serious injury. …”

NHTSA complaint #11234308, filed 2019-07, 1,600 miles

“We had just returned from the grocery store parked the car in the driveway and were proceeding to exit the car. My 17 yr old daughter was sitting in the passenger seat when we heard a loud bang and her head was jolted foward by the headrest, upon examination and a quick Google search we learned that it was a safety feature for when rear-ended which had not happened.”

NHTSA complaint #11527473, filed 2023-06

“I was trying to roll the 3rd row seats in my van into the storage area, when trying to get the headrest to be in a lower position (in order to stow) the headrest snapped forward quickly and hit my niece in the face. She was inside the vehicle trying to put the 3rd row seats down. Thankfully her nose is not broke, but she hurt it pretty bad. There is no warning that this could happen and I think it is a safety issue.”
