“Loose transmission carriage. I contacted Ford and they would not repair under the existing warranty. The transmission, had I not paid to get it fixed, could have caused a major accident. This problem does not occur all of a sudden as this was a factory assembly error.”

NHTSA complaint #707694, filed 1999-06

“The contact owns a 1995 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH the clutch fell to the floor board. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated the bushing that detains the rod to the master cylinder clutch assembly disintegrated and had to be replaced. After the vehicle was repaired the failure recurred ten times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10558746, filed 2014-01, 120,000 miles

“At times, it is very difficult to shift to 1st,2nd, 3rd, or 4th gears after the vehicle is stopped. This is an intermitent problem that seems to be getting worse very quickly. I bought the vehicle new and within a few months had to take it back for this exact problem. I was told that the synchronous mechanism was replaced; however, the problem never went away. I took it back after a few weeks of the original repair because there still existed the same problem. The technician I spoke to said that this would go away once the gears wore a little. This has never happened. And here we are.”

NHTSA complaint #732788, filed 2000-09

“The contact owns a 1995 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 55 MPH, the contact attempted to make a left turn and heard a bumping noise in his vehicle. He took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the gears on the rear end failed. The contact believes that this failure should not occur because he takes good care of his vehicle. The manufacturer would not repair the vehicle for free because it was not included in the recall. The current and failure mileages were 49,000. Updated 12/17/08. The dealer replaced the front axle u-joint. Updated 12/18/08.”

NHTSA complaint #10247887, filed 2008-11, 49,000 miles

“Hydraulic clutch was becoming increasingly more difficult to press with his foot in order to change gears. Consumer examined vehicle and diagnosed that a slave cylinder for hydraulic clutch had failed ,resulting in a loss of fluid in the cylinder. Note: also, reports oil pan is rusting and allowing oil to leak. Please provide any additional information / documentation.”
