“I had a Ford f150 and one morning we were woke up to the horn blowing. We looked out to see the truck go up in flames. We don`t know what happened because the truck sat in the drive all night. We did not know of any recalls that cause fires. But we do not know if that was it. There was nothing left of the truck and the insurance co. Hauled it away.”

“Cruise control that has been causing fires is doing the same thing to my 1995 F-150. I was having the sensor replaced when the wiring harness for the cruise control smoked and burned up. It had brake fluid in it just like the sensor did. It blew a fuse and also smoked from the cruise control and the also near the intake. …”

NHTSA complaint #10124257, filed 2005-06, 88,975 miles

“Speed control deactivation switch on the front of the master cylinder caught fire. Minimal damage but lots of smoke. It was caught very early. I understand there is a recall and an ongoing investigation. This incident just occurred and I have not had it repaired. I didn't know if this would help the investigation or not.”

NHTSA complaint #10137019, filed 2005-09, 185,000 miles

“There was an under hood fire in the 1995 Ford F-150. I drove it the night before and got home about 11:00 pm. I woke up to see the truck in flames about 8:00 am the next day. The fire department put the fire out, and said it was an electrical fire that started on the driver's side of the engine compartment. This sounded li,k ke the cruise control switch problem. Luckily no one was hurt and no other property was damaged.”

NHTSA complaint #10190565, filed 2007-05, 130,000 miles

“1995 Ford F-150 pickup caught fire. The vehicle had not been driven for a full day and a half and the engine was cold. The truck was completely engulfed in flames when we found it about 6:45 pm. Fire caused damage to the house and a saturn sedan parked next to it in the driveway. My husband collapsed and suffered a fatal heart attack while trying to put out flames. My son in law helped save the house from burning down until the fire department, police and emt's arrived.”
