“I'm not sure what failed but a Google search with symptoms tells me it's a throttle-by-wire malfunction. The F150 truck accelerates immediately and aggresively to full throttle when I floor the gas peddle to merge traffic on freeways. It continues at full throttle regardless what I do. Braking gives a pop up window on the dash that reads Brake Applied Power Reduced , and the brakes do slow the vehicle and even stop it but the engine revs at full throttle. …”
NHTSA complaint #11749740, filed 2026-07“My wife was parking our F150 in a parking lot with landscaped dividers I was a passenger. The vehicle was in one foot driving mode. As she approached the curb going 1 to 3 mph, she moved her foot from the accelerator to the brake. As soon as she left the accelerator the vehicle rocketed off. She put her foot down on the brake, but the power of the vehicle was so great and so fast the vehicle went over the curb and a 4 inch landscaping tree. Luckily we were facing a drive on the other side and not a car. The vehicle stopped in the drive. …”
NHTSA complaint #11738717, filed 2026-05“I believe whats happening is - The transmission is downshifting too early, and applying a significant and random amount of braking resistance. This braking goes off and on at random. It prevents the driver from braking in a controlled manner, as this random and unpredictable additional braking caused by - i think - the transmission is constantly changing. Therefore sometime my truck will randomly and suddenly slow down, then accelerate. As a driver, I am always trying to match the trucks random braking, and brake calmly. Its impossible to do. …”
NHTSA complaint #11766228, filed 2026-09“On November 2nd, 2025 at approximately 6pm, in Houston, Texas, my 2025 Ford F‑150 with Ford BlueCruise engaged in Hands‑Free mode was traveling with traffic at about 70 mph on a major thoroughfare. Without driver input, the system rapidly reduced speed to about 50 mph after it appeared to misinterpret an unknown speed‑limit change. This sudden, uncommanded deceleration created a hazardous speed differential with surrounding traffic. I swiftly took over manual control to maintain traffic flow and prevent a potential rear‑end collision. …”
NHTSA complaint #11697240, filed 2025-11“The contact owns a 2025 Ford F-150 used for hauling a 2021 Little Guy Max. The contact stated that while driving up a steep hill at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle accelerated inadvertently, and when the brake was depressed, the vehicle failed to slow down as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle then stopped accelerating with an unknown Braking message displayed. The vehicle was then driven approximately 40 miles and then parked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,500.”
