“My truck was parked on a slight slope in my driveway. I got in to move the truck to my normal parking space. When I started the truck I noticed the emergency brake was on. I put the truck into drive- the truck accelerated with my foot on the brake. The truck struck the corner of my deck and didn't stop until I hit the corner at my house. I had the brake pushed to the firewall and the truck would kept accelerating. Thankfully the airbags did not deploy. Significant damage was done to my house and my truck.”
NHTSA complaint #11758987, filed 2026-08“I experienced an unintended-acceleration event in a parking lot while maneuvering at low speed. I was alternating between Reverse and Drive to adjust the vehicle’s position within a parking space when, after selecting Drive, the truck unexpectedly surged forward with substantial acceleration. I applied the brakes immediately and with significant force, but the brake pedal felt unusually soft and stopping response seemed reduced. The vehicle struck a large commercial trash bin; I narrowly avoided striking the building behind it. …”
NHTSA complaint #11752270, filed 2026-07“My truck accelerated on its own , repeatedly, while highway driving . Had to drive with brakes on until I was able to pull over . Turned off truck , waited a few minutes , turned back on and without having my foot anywhere near the accelerator, the truck accelerated on its own , as if someone was gunning the engine - while still in park . Turned off again . NOTHING was near my accelerator to cause this - I managed to get to the dealership . They said it was my floor mats that caused the problem . They found nothing mechanical. …”
NHTSA complaint #11546412, filed 2023-09“Since I have purchased the 2022 Ford F-150 I have had several incidents where the cruise control has set itself. A couple incidents have resulted in me slamming on the brakes to avoid collision. I have taken it to the dealer a few times and they have replaced everything that has to do with the cruise control and it still sets itself from time to time but it's sporadic. The dash lights/instrument cluster has went completely out 2-3 time and came back on. When it does come back on the drive mode disabled light is on and I can't change the drive modes. …”
NHTSA complaint #11596627, filed 2024-06“The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while accelerating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V455000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.”
