“My 1992 Ford F-150 caught fire while parked in my driveway. The entire engine compartment burned for 10-30 minutes before the exploding front tire drew our attention. The fire inspector told us other F-150 models were suspected of having a cruise control switch/fire problem, but there is no recall at Ford for this model/year.”

NHTSA complaint #10159335, filed 2006-06, 133,000 miles

“This truck was purchased new. After six motors three trans. Four recalls, that we know about, and rear differential problems that we have to fix, again, we have had it!! Please give any info on recalls that I have not listed,or any recourse we may have. We did contact an attorney taylor & hodges but they wanted 1,400.00 as retainer. Unfortunately the warrenty is up. Thanks for any info you can provide, or just for listening.”

NHTSA complaint #710949, filed 1999-09

“I do not kmow why my vehicle malfunctioned but if anyone elses vehicle has ever malfunctioned as mine did, someone could be killed. My truck just started running full throttle for no reason. Luckily I got it stopped and noone got hurt. I have not been to a mechanic yet, so I do not know the reason for the malfunction. What ever the reason, Ford motor company should make the part that malfunctioned to not work at all, rather than run full throttle, some one could be killed.”

NHTSA complaint #752246, filed 2001-09

“Consumer states whiile driving, the vehicle surged forward, steering wheel was turned to right and then it locked. Consumer had applied brakes but could not slow down vehicle. It kept going in circles. Passenger's door opened, vehicle hit another vehicle. Key came out off ignition at the beginning, consumer was able to put key back in ignition and shut off vehicle. Also the ignition key cylinder was replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #8013503, filed 2002-07

“Throttle position sensor failed causing engine to race. The vehicle lurched forward and impacted the brick wall by the side of the garage door. The impact knocked the driver unconscious. When he came to the engine was still racing and the tires were spinning. He killed the engine by turning the key off. It bent the bumper and it caused damage to the house. Having a throttle position sensor that can fail in a non fail safe mode is a safety hazard. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**769765”
