“I was driving my truck on 6 lane highway at highway speeds, 65-75mph. When I hit a bump in the road the entire vehicle began to shake violently. The truck was hard to control and the steering and braking of the vehicle were greatly impaired and the shaking didn't stop until I decreased the speed by at least 15-20mph. This has happened several times when either one tire hits a pothole in the road or both tires hit an uneven bridge on the highway.”
NHTSA complaint #11339209, filed 2020-07, 97,500 miles“The ABS system and the advanced auto trac malfunction and causes loss of breaks. Ford can not diagnose the problem and seems unworried about the issue. I have questioned Ford about this problem and the response I get is it could be a number of issues. They want to start changing parts at my cost without knowing what it is or not wanting to admit what the problem is. This happens when the truck is in motion and happens without cause. A bell goes off you lose power for a short period of time and lose breaks for periods of time while bells are going off.”
NHTSA complaint #11280239, filed 2019-11, 156,000 miles“We had our truck checked for recalls and service issues because of a check engine light prior to leaving on a long trip. We specifically asked if the truck was one of the brake recalls. We also have a non functioning touch screen. When the truck was examined and a oil crankcase separator trouble showed up as an extended warranty. The oil separator was replaced and no other recommendations were made. We were told to bring the truck back if the check engine light came on again as there also a fuel temperature sensor alert that might be the issue. …”
NHTSA complaint #11088890, filed 2018-04, 49,100 miles“While travelling in morning rush stop and go traffic, in austin, texas I had to come to a complete stop. The truck would not stop until I applied considerable brake pressure. I came within 6 inches of the vehicle in front. I was travelling at approximately 1 to 2 MPH at the time. On the return trip in the evening rush hour it was also stop and go. I had to come to a complete stop but the truck would not stop. I had to put as much brake pressure as I could to slow the truck (doing 1 MPH or less). I still tapped the vehicle in front. …”
NHTSA complaint #10730349, filed 2015-06, 32,300 miles“F250 death wobble my 2015 f250 pick-up truck is only three years old with 38,000 miles and it has the death wobble. When driving on the highway at 50 MPH or higher, pressing the brake and hitting a bump in the road causes the vehicle to go into an uncontrollable wobble. It is called the death wobble. It happens every time on the highway. Tires and brakes are brand new - sill happens.”
