“While driving at highway speeds (60mph), I hit a bump in the road and the truck began to shake violently in the front end, to a point that I felt I might lose control. The only way I could get it to stop was to significantly reduce speed. This has happened twice now and is very concerning. The second time was at highway speed as well, this time 70mph.”
NHTSA complaint #11301528, filed 2020-01, 48,000 miles“Driving on I 495 last night and experienced death wobble. I have under 27,000 miles on my 2017 f250. In the past, I notice shaking but this was alot worse and lasted a long time. I had to put on hazard lights and move over lanes to shoulder while slowing down. Fortunately, I was not in an accident but could easily have benn.”
NHTSA complaint #11407348, filed 2021-04, 27,690 miles“First time at 6000 miles driving 70mph expenernst the death wobble. Ford couldn't get parts they needed. Allined at local Ford dealer to Ford recommendations. Didn't experience again till 26000 miles. We are on a trip and it has happened 7 times. Ford doesn't seem to want to admit we have a problem. We were on the interstates.”
NHTSA complaint #11246743, filed 2019-08, 6,000 miles“While traveling down the interstate at approx 70 MPH I hit a bump and the vehicle's steering became violently erratic, jerking the steering wheel from my hands and the vehicle was shaking as if it was being torn apart internally. I had to slow to almost 10 MPH before I was able to regain control of the vehicle. This is the 4th time the vehicle has acted in such a manner.”
NHTSA complaint #11217605, filed 2019-06, 64,000 miles“Takata recall I was driving on the i10 freeway when I hit a small bump in the road. The vehicles steering wheel began to shake violently and I started losing control of the vehicle. I slowed the vehicle down to 10 MPH and it stopped. I started going again and hit a small bump and the exact same thing happened. I believe this is death wobble from reading all of the forums”
