“Tailgate opened on its own while driving 4x so far. This is after it was taken in for a recall about 2 year's ago. Each time I was driving and it happened with the first 10 minutes. I was in the mountains camping when it happened”

NHTSA complaint #11389178, filed 2021-01, 40,000 miles

“I have had the tail gate open several times. I have had the tailgate repaired under a recall twice and then I replaced the entire wiring harness for it. Unfortunately the issue continues to happen.”

NHTSA complaint #11433392, filed 2021-09

“I have taken my truck into the dealer to report my tailgate opening by itself but they said there is no recall. Recently it opened while pulling a trailer and it has caused damage. The dealer is still telling me that they do not have any options to fix it and are not willing to pay for the fix, even though they did one fix once before. This is a well documented issue reported by many people on the internet. I believe there was a recall for this on this model truck but my VIN was excluded for some reason and it should not have been. This occurs typically when you come to a stop. …”

NHTSA complaint #11459227, filed 2022-04

“The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated the front driver's side door lock was inoperable, causing him to be locked inside the vehicle on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11531667, filed 2023-07, 150,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the alarm system warning light was illuminated. The hood ajar message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the knock sensor and wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.”
