“My truck tailgate is opening without cause. It happened 3 times before a recall was supposedly completed in january and has happened 3 times since. Twice when pulling a trailer just after starting to backup. That last was when my car play malfunctioned with the apple phone. During troubleshooting work the tailgate opened while sitting in my driveway. I have damage to then gate caused by a trailer strike on 1 opening and the dealership is not helpful and has not taken this seriously. This will happen again..”
NHTSA complaint #11349252, filed 2020-08, 40,000 miles“The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the tailgate opened intermittently without warning. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V864000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The dealer was notified, and the vehicle was repaired under the recall. The contact stated that soon after the recall was serviced, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and filed a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 25,224.”
