“Driving 65, hit rough part of the road, death wobble started (steering wheel and front end shaking violently). It sent me into the other lane of oncoming traffic. I released the gas pedal and it stopped when I got down to around 30-40 MPH. Did it again later in the way, same situation. I don't feel safe driving it and it only has 32,000 miles.”
NHTSA complaint #11364034, filed 2020-10, 32,000 miles“I was driving 70 MPH down the highway. I went over an area that had a patch in the road and as soon as I hit that bump my truck felt like I was gonna loose control. I almost went into another lane but thankfully I had both hands on the steering wheel. The truck just vibrated so hard. I have noticed that it tends to do that on bumps.”
NHTSA complaint #11325435, filed 2020-05, 29,000 miles“Our company vehicle (with 43k miles on it) steering wheel shakes and entire truck wobbles on the freeway. It is referred to online as the Ford death wobble. If Ford does not take responsibility as they should we need to know what needs to be done to fix this common Ford issue. This began happening in late august and has happened several times since.”
NHTSA complaint #11270222, filed 2019-10, 42,000 miles“I was driving on a freeway on an incline and slight curve. There was a little dip in the road. The truck started shaking like I had a flat tire. I pulled over checked truck and tires over. Found no problem. I pulled back on the freeway and then it drove normal. Did research and I had never heard of the death wobble before that.”
NHTSA complaint #11384166, filed 2020-12, 5,500 miles“Going 65-70 miles on freeway and my truck starts to shake out of control. I haven't had it more that 4 months and this has already happened 3 times. I have looked online to see if this had happened to anyone before and it has. Its something they call a death wobble. It is very scary and nothing I can do to control it. I am scared to drive my truck that I just payed 50k and cannot drive!”
