“At 23,000 miles my truck started shaking violently while traveling down the freeway at 60 miles per hour. It was shaking so violently that I lost control of steering completely. The only way to stop the shaking was to slam on my brakes in traffic before I hit the highway divider. My research tells me it is the death wobble. It shook something loose in my diesel engine, because the engine is knocking now. On the way home I stayed on the service road and kept the truck under 45 miles per hour. It happened again at 45 miles per hour, so I started driving at 30mph to try and make it home. …”
NHTSA complaint #11361297, filed 2020-09, 23,000 miles“Unstable driving at 50 MPH after small road unevenness. (death wobble) almost hit a vehicle while driving on highway 52 in puerto rico. Took it to the dealer and provided with a fix but the problem persist increasingly. Also, computer code p2074 for a 2019 unit. Oil leaking from the left front side of the upper crankcase. Have an appointment at the dealer on march 08, 2021. Dealer informed, upfront, that there is no permanent solution for the so call death wobble unless Ford issues a re-call and provides it.”
NHTSA complaint #11398772, filed 2021-03, 20,000 miles“Thermal insulation panel under the truck bed body above the exhaust pipe became loose and fell onto the exhaust pipe and caught fire and melted to the pipe. Noticed the hanging insulation panel when truck was parked.”
NHTSA complaint #11257376, filed 2019-09, 1,000 miles“My vehicle caught on fire. I had been pulling my trailer and I pulled over to park when my truck began smoking. I attempted to open the hood and the truck was on fire. None of the sensors activated and I didn’t have any indication the truck was overheating.”
NHTSA complaint #11599258, filed 2024-07“Ford Diesel 250 flat out stalled while driving on a very congested Highway. Full tank of Diesel. No warning. Complete stall at 65MPH, no brakes, no power steering, no lights. Was almost killed when the truck almost crashed into a bus. Happened (4) more times as we made our way back home. Internet search shows that Ford Motor Company is fully aware of this common failure of their fuel system. Federal regulators need to pressure Ford for a Recall before someone is killed”
