“I take very good care of my care and I always open my car door very gently. However, I just realized that the driver's side interior door lock is broken. I cannot open the car from the inside, instead, I have to roll the windows door and use the outside handle to open the door. I did research on the internet and there are alot of people who are complaining about the issue. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion se with around 52,000 miles and I recently bought the car. I did order a new replacement for the interior door handle. There should be a re-call for this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10503875, filed 2013-03, 53,000 miles

“There is a problem with the door locks. One two occasions the drivers door lock has failed to engage in cold weather (approx 30 degrees). Once I was outside the car, the keyless entry would not unlock the door, and I tried the physical key. I was able to very slowly turn it to get in. However, the second time this happened I was *inside* the car and could not get out. The electronic lock switch would fail (though I did hear it trying to work), and the manual lever was loose and would not unlock the door. After several minutes of trying the electronic lock, the door finally opened. …”

NHTSA complaint #10472411, filed 2012-08, 15,000 miles

“The drivers side door handle is inoperative. Moves but does not unlatch the door. Operator must lower the window, and reach outside to unlatch and open the door. This is a safety issue. Going to dealer tomorrow, 27 jul 2018. There have been no accidents. The vehicle is in excellent condition. 100k miles. 2011 Fusion the consumer is in possession of another failed door latch to a 2012 Ford Fusion.”

NHTSA complaint #10681451, filed 2015-02, 78,000 miles

“Began having problems with this vehicle the second month after purchase. The first incident was steering wheel locked and I could not control the direction of the car. I ended up on the left side of the road off the shoulder before I could stop it. It happened on several occasions. Car dies for no reason. I end up having it towed or restarted by charging battery. The battery always has a full charge. Also I have been shopping and get in the car to start it and it will not start. Door handles would not work from inside. Windows would not open. …”
