“I was driving my 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid at around thirty MPH on a city street and my brake system warning light popped up on the dashboard. As soon as that happen I had no brakes, and there was no resistance in the brakes. They went straight to the floor, luckily I was able to stop the car with my emergency brake. I restarted the car and the brakes worked fine after that.”
NHTSA complaint #11385774, filed 2020-12, 159,500 miles“All of a sudden my brakes started going all the way to the floor and it became incredibly difficult to stop the car. My ABS system and hydraulic control valve were replaced in november of 2019. The same thing happened to me on 11/10/2020. My car is currently in the shop and they say it's the same problem again.”
NHTSA complaint #11374149, filed 2020-11, 75,000 miles“Lately when I'm driving and have to come to a stop at a light and have to sit there for awhile my brakes will slowly go to the floor and sometimes I have I will have to pump the brakes because my car will start to inch forward to get it to stop again. I checked the fluid levels and bled the system and it still does it.”
NHTSA complaint #11081425, filed 2018-03, 77,700 miles“While driving in traffic on a city street at about 45 MPH, the brakes stopped working so that we were unable to fully stop safely. There was smoke coming out of a tire and burning inside of the wheel. The ABS system suddenly stopped working and we were lucky that we didn't hit anyone.”
NHTSA complaint #11362529, filed 2020-10, 35,000 miles“Ii was in a parking lot and pressed on the brake pedal and it went to the floor and did not stop the car. I had to pump the brake pedal to get the car to stop. I had to continue to pump the brakes any time I tried to slow down or stop the rest of the way home. I stopped driving the car as the brakes are now unreliable but I am taking it in to the dealer today for repair. When the brakes stopped working the ABS light came on.”
