“Hello' whenever I cold start my Honda Accord, there's a short grinding noise at the start, in which disappears immediately after a second or two of the grinding. This has happened every single cold start since I bought the car 3 months ago. After doing some research, it appears there was a similar issue for earlier years of this car.”

NHTSA complaint #11192663, filed 2019-03, 43,000 miles

“I believe it is a starter issue. When I go to start the vehicle it will often stall and not the start the first couple times and I can hear it try to start but fail. The car only has 39k miles on it and I was doing my research and a lot of other people have this same issue with their 2014 Accord. I think this should be considered a recall and fixed by Honda or refunded for repair by Honda.”

NHTSA complaint #11299484, filed 2020-01, 39,000 miles

“2014 Honda Accord will not start. I press the brake but it's hard to press down. Push start will not go in to start the car. The car has a brand new battery and the computer system was reset. This is the second time I'm experiencing this with my car. The car does nothing no sound. Everything just lock up.”

NHTSA complaint #11326389, filed 2020-05, 98,000 miles

“We have an intermittent problem with the car starting. We found an online thread on the subject with workaround tricks. Sometimes putting the car in neutral and starting it from there works, but not consistently. What works most often is turn key one notch, wait 3 seconds, turn again and wait until lights go away, then again and then it starts. What is this issue? Is there a recall that can fix this issue?”

NHTSA complaint #11339714, filed 2020-07, 70,000 miles

“I was slowly making a left turn into and pulling into a front end in parking space with my foot on the brake, the car as already going straight into the parking space when the car suddenly accelerated, could not be slowed down or stopped by the brake, jumped the curb, and crashed into the building. Air bag did not deploy.”
