“My 2000 Honda Accord v6 3.0 vtec engine is having some issues after it heats up when I start it would do some erratic RPM changes on idle and then stall. If I manage to get it moving despite RPM drops, it runs great and would not stall again. Also, if I leave it for a while (like 15 minutes) and then come back, it usually starts like nothing happened I believe this is a defect with PCM and fuel pressure regulator the issue has to do with ethanol having a lower boiling point than traditional gas. …”
NHTSA complaint #11394584, filed 2021-02, 118,234 miles“When car is driven during hot days and you turn the car off, it will not start again tell the car cools off. This happens during the summer months.now that the car is older, it will not start at all during some of the hot days. This include when I start the car for first time that day. Took the car in once years ago and they said they fixed it but I keep having the same problem. They wanted to charge me more money to try to fix it again. Front passage headlights always been foggy. Car also never hugged the road right. Dealership could never find the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10777690, filed 2015-09, 95,000 miles“I fear my vehicle is being denied a recall due to it by Honda. My vehicle failed its annual emissions test on aug. 22. The state sent me a notice informing me that my 2000 Honda Accord was part of a recall class in 2004 that was connected to an emissions problem. I received no alert from Honda about such a recall. When I asked Honda about it this week, they told me my car was not part of the recall class. And they claimed that they could determine this by my car's VIN -- that the VIN indicated it was not part of the recall class. …”
NHTSA complaint #10542767, filed 2013-09, 149,500 miles“I bought my 2000 Honda Accord 4cyl. About one month ago from an owner. Drove perfect for the first week. Then one morning my brake pedal got really soft. After checking all fluids and leaks found out that my brake lines were rusted. I took my vehicle to a small shop to get my brake lines replaced. I then got a call a few days later saying I should go down and check something they noticed on my car. Turns out the passenger subframe is rusted and rotted out. Everything else underneath the car is clean. The mechanic said it's weird that only the passenger side subframe is rusted. …”
NHTSA complaint #10683359, filed 2015-02, 95,000 miles“I first noticed that when the car was idling, it didn't sound exactly right. Then about a week later we noticed that when we began to stop, the car jumped. After that when you go to take off from being stopped the car will rev up the rpms and then the motor catches up and jerks into gear. When we called and talked to a mechanic (highly known for transmissions) about it, he told us that they have been having a lot of problems with the 1998-2000 model hondas, after 100,000 miles doing this, that the transmission is going out on it, that we need to have it replaced. …”
