“Ignition problems. Car will not start on initial try. It takes several attempts to start it. My car only has 66k miles. Im afraid it will leave me stranded somewhere because it did not start. I put a complaint with Honda, I think it is a factory defect, which has plagued this company for years. I am hoping your agency can go further with this issue. Thank you”

NHTSA complaint #11202831, filed 2019-04, 66,000 miles

“Every once in a while I am not able to start the car. The battery is good and the battery in the key fob has been replaced. When I push the button, nothing happens. After awhile (a few minutes to 30 minutes or so)the car will crank. This is happening more and more frequently. I am concerned that I will soon be stranded and not able to wait this out.”

NHTSA complaint #11160800, filed 2018-12, 80,458 miles

“When I try to start my car, most of the time it won't start. It just clicks. I have to try multiple times and eventually it will start. This is a common problem that Honda should fix. And it is a safety issue because, if it is dark out and your car won't start, then you are a target for a criminal. I am losing my faith in the reliability of Honda's.”

NHTSA complaint #11128406, filed 2018-09, 58,000 miles

“The vehicle tends to not start. Turning the ignition only causes a clicking sound, however the car will not turn over (start). I purchased a new starter but the vehicle still does not start, I read online that chances are it will not fix the problem. I found many people online with the same issue that I'm having.”

NHTSA complaint #11374052, filed 2020-11, 90,000 miles

“Push button start does not work intermittently. It will go through start sequence but does not turn over engine. Have to wait a period of time to start or try multipile times until turns over. I have been stranded in parking lots several times. On review of internet I see that this is an ongoing problem with this model and year.”
