Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“While driving on the freeway, the front driver window suddenly dropped down without any action on my part. The sudden nature of the window dropping, the rush of air coming into the vehicle, and the loud freeway noise caused me to redirect my focus from the roadway. After pulling off the freeway, I attempted to manually reposition the window to no avail. I had to slowly drive back home and park the minivan until my mechanic could repair the problem. The mechanic had to replace the power window regulator at a cost of $200 for parts and labor. …”

NHTSA complaint #10668251, filed 2014-12, 61,207 miles

“The minivan has automatic sliding rear doors that do not stop closing even when there is an obstruction. I have 2 small kids and am very afraid that if the door does not stop when I am obtructing it, that it is similarly not stop for unknowing kids.”

NHTSA complaint #10069415, filed 2004-01, 5,000 miles

“The power sliding door fails to open electronically, either through the remote, the driver's controls on the dash, or the handles (both interior & exterior) on the door. This only affects one door (so far). The dealer says that washers have to be attached to four grounding wires inside the door in order for the electrical circuitry to work correctly, at a cost of $240. It is already out of warranty, but it seems that I shouldn't have to pay to repair what appears to be a defect in either the design or manufacturing of the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10070991, filed 2004-01, 47,000 miles

“I've came close 3 times in a crash because I cant see cars coming from the right side when at a stop sign. I look and look and I think there no cars coming but when I proceeded I cut off the on coming car because I didnt see it. Has there been other problems like this before?.”

NHTSA complaint #744658, filed 2001-04

“While driving through baton rouge enroute to new orleans, there was a major exploding sound and my passenger side window completely shattered in my lap. We were on the interstate and there were no cars immediately in front of or on the side of our car. We did not see any flying depree or rocks. A truck driver who was behind us did not see any rocks or anything either , he was as shocked as we were. What I would like to know is if Honda has replaced many side windows and if anyone else has had this experience. …”
