“As I'm driving, a dash warning light comes on that says 'service shifter' and all the lights indicating what gear I'm in come on. This has happened twice in the past week and I've before about three months ago, twice on a city street (45mph) and once on a highway (65mph). Each time the car has to be turned off and restarted to clear the message.”
NHTSA complaint #11323568, filed 2020-05, 49,798 miles“My Jeep Cherokee sport 2016 got stuck in a gear and would not shift. The service transmission light came on and the gas pedal would not do anything. It happened 5 times on my way home from a road trip and was very dangerous. The Jeep apparently needs a software update and I believe I shouldn't have to pay for that. The vehicle only has 30k miles on it.”
NHTSA complaint #11082415, filed 2018-04, 30,000 miles“While driving on the freeway an engine warning light appeared on the dash with the message service transmission and my speed immediately dropped and I was unable to accelerate to move out of the way of oncoming vehicles. I was barely able to pull the car over. Once stopped the message went away and acceleration was restored, but message occurred again and power was again lost.”
NHTSA complaint #11139629, filed 2018-10, 34,000 miles“My vehicle was on cruise control at 55 MPH and during a downhill slope, the vehicle accelerated and rpms jumped to 6-8,000. I could not get the cruise control to shutoff and stop acceleration. I almost hit the car in front of me. Has happened twice now. I have also had it lurch forward at stop signs when taking off.”
NHTSA complaint #11102247, filed 2018-06, 35,500 miles“I purchased a certified pre-owned Jeep latitude. Within two months the service shifter light came on and the entire console lit up red. This issue continued off and on until I took it for servicing. This issue showed up while in park in my driveway, when pulling out and then when I stopped at a gas station. It was fixed in minutes ???? But it appears this has been an ongoing issue never corrected by chrysler/ Jeep”
