“Service shifter warning keeps popping up. Once I turn the car off it goes away for a few thousand miles then pops back up. Dealership says they are unsure why this would come on. It has happened multiple times over the past 4 years of us getting it brand new. Today was the most recent & when I decided to google it & seen where you can put in into this site.”

NHTSA complaint #11397415, filed 2021-02, 93,000 miles

“Transmission is squealing as I drive down the road. Many times when I put it in drive it doesn't want to go. I have also experienced this at traffic light stops. The vehicle will be in drive and when I press on the gas to go it jerks. This is a safety hazzard because I don't know if there is going to be a time where is will not respond and strands me.”

NHTSA complaint #11330247, filed 2020-06, 80,000 miles

“I brought Jeep to dealership and was told that power transfer unit has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Other 2104-2017 Jeep cherokees have had a recall on this unit but my VIN does not show a recall in place. Did they put in a different ptu in my car than the other 67,248 jeeps? Car shifts I to 2wd or 4wd drive by itself”

NHTSA complaint #11408101, filed 2021-04, 97,000 miles

“Service shifter appeared and I reset by pulling over shutting off vehicle, opening door and re-insert key and start. Was happening once a month, now happens every time I drive. Can't view any vehicle information as it freezes the screen. Happens regardless of where I am driving. Will even happen on a remote start sitting idle.”

NHTSA complaint #11375032, filed 2020-11, 35,000 miles

“'service shifter' is displayed, meaning I cannot use any of the in vehicle controls or use the manual transmission feature or see what gear I am in. It's an automatic but has the manual option. I've seen hundreds of other people effected by this, needs to be a recall asap or grounds for a class action if no action is taken.”
