Example complaints
Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.
“There is a clunking noise in the front chassis when the vehicle comes to a stop and was reported to the dealer. Their attempted fix was for their repair shop to 'turn' the front rotors. The noise remains and I am shocked that the life of my brake rotors were shortened as an attempted fix. I am afraid to take my vehicle back for that kind of repair. The tailgate would not securely latch and without a working 'tell-tale' door ajar warning indicator, the exhaust smell and ratteling noise was an alert to the problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #700491, filed 1998-11“Due to steering wheel and dashboard being too low, consumer has suffered leg injuries. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details.”
NHTSA complaint #891686, filed 2001-06“While driving engine check light came on. Consumer pulled over to check under the hood. Consumer indicated that before engine check light came on, gears were slipping. A couple of days before, engine quit and vehicle would not go over 25mph. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was a common transmission problem. Dealer rebuilt transmission. At another time, consumer heard a loud bang. She stopped/looked under car, and noticed oil on the back window due to engine rod breaking off, piercing three holes in oil pan. No warning at all, and then vehicle died.”
NHTSA complaint #865898, filed 2000-07“While driving about 25 MPH and coming to a stop vehicle will cut off. Starting to back up and the engine check light will come on, and the vehicle will cut off.”
