“I heard its common in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Ill be driving down the road fine and then the car just shuts off with out any warning and wont start back up for at least an hour, but it dies about 2-5 minutes later! It dies in the middle of an intersection while stopped at a light or waiting to turn. It has died when turning a corner into traffic making me almost cause an accident many of times. I do not drive this vehicle any more do to the danger it may cause to myself and others on the road. Iv taken it in to be fixed an no one can find what's wrong with it! …”

“Evaporator leaks into car. Mechanic says its a bad design and I need to bring it in every 6 months or so which is what I have done the past two years I've owned this car. Despite repalcing evaporator core three times, mechanic says design of drain into the vehicle frame cause it to continuously block up. There is nothing that can be done to permanently fix this issue. The smell from the water that leaks into the car, passenger rear seat floor board, is horrendous. My daughter sits here, and is having allergic reactions to it. …”

NHTSA complaint #10095817, filed 2004-10, 104,888 miles

“The air conditioner housing leaks to the interior, under the carpet. The dealership suggested a quick that didn't work the body shop says this is a common problem that would be expensive. The dealership then said if the quickfix didn't work, they would need to replace the housing, which would require removing the entire dash: over $600 to complete the job. If this is a common problem, Jeep should have recalled it a long time ago and fixed it.”

NHTSA complaint #10098273, filed 2004-11, 169,000 miles

“Replaced fuel pump on 2/27/03 after I purchased the Jeep used on 2/26/03. Replaced fuel pump again on 3/37/03 (broke down in another state). Took Jeep in for transmission failure on 4/3/03. Sat in shop for 30 days while warranty company decided what to do with it. Replaced transmission. Jeep dies in traffic on 5/5/03. Called shop got runaround. Called warranty company and took to another shop. Told it was fuel pump again (warranty company didn't pay the last 550.00 to replace fuel pump) and also the gas tank is deteriorating, warranty company will not cover due to high fuel pump replacement. …”

NHTSA complaint #10019027, filed 2003-05, 87,864 miles

“Please contact me reference the air conditioning A/C unit in my 1995 Grand Cherokee Jeep. I'm totally frustrated with the service and responses I've received from daimler chrysler and the local dealership referencing the A/C. The A/C not working on a 500 mile plus trip (one way) can cause undo stress on family, especially one with young kids and a pregnant wife. When an authorized automobile dealership repairs your vehicle, you feel somewhat confident. …”
