Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“At 70000 miles, my air conditioning system began to hiss and not operate fully. I am told it has a leak in the system but as I look online, this is a common Jeep problem for 2015 models. They are recommending a system replacement on a 4 yr old vehicle (at the time of first occurrence). Normal wear and tear. No off road use. It's not isolated.”

NHTSA complaint #11328020, filed 2020-06, 75,000 miles

“Started the vehicle and noticed that parksense and forward collision warning were not working and every few minutes, the instrument panel, would beep and often display an error message. The messages it displayed were, service shifter (displayed most often), park sense off (it would automatically turn on and off) and acc/fcw not working service required (displayed a few times). …”

NHTSA complaint #10724358, filed 2015-06, 16,680 miles

“Key fob is designed with large buttons flush with the face of the fob. This vehicle has been unknowingly remote started twice (once in an attached garage) simply by having the fob in my pocket and bending over for something as simple as tying shoes. Panic alarm has been activated several times by similar normal actions. These buttons should be recessed to protect from unintentional activation. A running car in a closed attached garage in not a good thing.”

NHTSA complaint #10935457, filed 2016-12, 4,000 miles

“About 18 months ago the NHTSA had issued an advisory bulletin suggesting that automakers reduce or eliminate onboard info systems due to distracted drivers, in the meantime more complex systems have been installed by said and with the most recent hacking of the onboard ECM's as well as driving controls, I question will you possibly follow through with a mandate to cease these systems from being installed seeing that hackers through the bluetooth systems also onboard be eliminated to stop possible horrific accidents from happening. …”

NHTSA complaint #10759312, filed 2015-08, 3,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the heater engaged, there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. The “Vehicle Temperature” and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence, and a dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V461000 (Equipment). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.”
