“The passenger side headrest deployed. The car was sitting in the driveway. No one was hurt. It appears that the plastic pieces clamped on to the metal bar that was holding the headrest closed broke, causing the headrest to open. I notified Jeep customer care and they told me someone would call me concerning my case and I have not received that call at this time.”

NHTSA complaint #11354168, filed 2020-09, 64,000 miles

“I was sitting in the car in the parking lot and was about to start the car and all of sudden the driver headrest suddenly popped open. It smacked me in the head. There was no accident or nothing unusual to cause it to happen. I am hoping there is a recall on this problem and it gets fixed, it was not my fault at all. Thank you.”

NHTSA complaint #11321358, filed 2020-04, 70,000 miles

“I thought somehow I broke my headrest and didn't realize. But when I went to look it up and to my surprise I see hundreds of people with he same exact issue. Car was not moving and was parked behind my business, came back to the headrest deployed. Surprised Jeep hasn't recalled this yet seems like a major issue, can't even imagine if someone was sitting and it exploded.”

NHTSA complaint #11377977, filed 2020-12, 51,000 miles

“The headrest on my Jeep popped forward suddenly and unexpectedly while parked. This appears to have been caused by a failure of the plastic parts of the whiplash mitigation system built into the seat. While the seat was unoccupied at the time I feel this would have caused injury had someone been in the seat.”

NHTSA complaint #11350899, filed 2020-08, 75,000 miles

“While simply driving down the road my passenger side headrest just pops open. It seems the clips have broken. This should be a recall as I have spoken to many owners who have had the same issue. This is a safety issue and should be taken care of from the dealership and not cost $800.00 for something that is faulty.”
