“When exiting the express way yesterday, my airbag light turned on and dinged about 3 times and turned off. This is the first time my Grand Cherokee laredo has done this in the year that I have owned it. I'd like to note my previous car, a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited, would have this issue everyday. It is not safe for my airbags to be disabling while my car is in motion. Especially since it is having a stalling issue as well. This could be fatal given the right circumstances.”
NHTSA complaint #10909403, filed 2016-09, 209,500 miles“My husband was involved in a near head on collision. He was traveling about 10 MPH and was hit by a vehicle going about 35mph. His fender hit the center of our grill. Our bumper was torn off, the hood pushed up to the windshield and the motor pushed to a 45 deg. Angle. The jeeps airbags did not deploy, the other vehicles did.”
NHTSA complaint #10224416, filed 2008-04, 103,000 miles“I don't remember too much but I just remember swerving to avoid hitting another vehicle (hit it anyway) and ended up hitting another vehicle head on (going in the opposite direction). His air bags deployed but mine didn't.”
NHTSA complaint #10637597, filed 2014-09, 160,000 miles“On jan. 10, 2007, I was in a head-on collision and my air bags did not deploy. The whole front end of my Jeep was smashed and I have to get a whole new front clip for it. Also, the brakes went all the way to the floor and didn't seem to work properly. I am very upset about these issues and would like to know why the air bags would not deploy in this type of collision.”
NHTSA complaint #10179072, filed 2007-01, 140,000 miles“Blower motor resistor heated up to the point that there was smoke coming from under the passenger side glove compartment. After further investigation it was discovered that the wires and the resistor had both been charred and melted. Not only do I no longer have any heat or A/C but I also no longer have a window defroster and this poses a serious safety issue to myself, any passengers I may have and as well to other drivers on the road. Not to mention the fire that was only barely thwarted off.”
