“2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, this is the third occurance that my heating/cooling system has failed since I purchased my Jeep in august of 1999. The latest problem is the blend doors and recirculation doors. The dealer cost to fix was about $900.00. After seven years I would think that chrysler could make a heating/cooling system that would not break every 2.5years.”

NHTSA complaint #10181383, filed 2007-02, 30,000 miles

“The climate control system in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited does not function properly making visibility hard at times. From the research I've done this seems to be a large problem in these vehicles. They use a blend door system which are prone to break and require thousands of dollars to repair due to extensive dash removal.”

NHTSA complaint #10183437, filed 2007-02, 79,500 miles

“The dual climate control has been not functional due to the fact that my blend door actuator is stock on vent. This has caused me great discomfort and severe safety issues because I can not circulate any warm air in my car or defrost. I sincerely hope Jeep does a recall, not only to keep valued customers, but to prevent any serious accidents due to the fact that the defrost is completely disfunctional.”

NHTSA complaint #10295426, filed 2009-12, 90,000 miles

“I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have no heat and can't defrost the windows. I took it to a chrysler dealer and they told me the bender boards need to be replaced at a cost of about $1,200/. I did some research and there are a lot of people that are complaining about this issue with Jeep. This is obviously a design flaw and should be recalled and fixed by chrysler at no charge to the customer.”

NHTSA complaint #10217705, filed 2008-02, 55,000 miles

“The blower motor resistor has melted! (fire hazard) now we only have cold air blowing from our vents. No heat. Someone said it is the blend doors. Apparently lots of ppl have this problem! (it is soon to be winter time) also, creaking/motor sounds come from the dash when the vehicle is off?!?!”
