“While driving all my gauges stopped working such as the wipers, speedometer, oil light, all of my gauges stopped working that are controlled by the computer. Couldn't tell what gear I was in while driving. My radio and clock wouldn't work. My blinkers wouldn't work. I had to take it to get it fixed this morning. I surprised this wasn't on a recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10450471, filed 2012-03, 42,500 miles

“Vehicle turn signal randomly indicates the wrong direction. Has happened multiple times in vehicle. It appears to affect the right turn signal more than the left. Occasionally it will flash the wrong turn signal once, then it flashes the correct one. However there has been instances where it flashed the wrong direction the entire time the lever was in position. During a visit to dealer for a recall on another part, the service manager informed me that there are new module updates available. However he would not inform me what they fixed, and they would end up costing me $90/ service flash. …”

“2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited model- driver's side heated power mirror exploded while driving. I was driving on 1/30/10 in rye brook, ny and temperatures were approximately 15 degrees fahrenheit. As I was driving the driver's side mirror literally exploded. The roads were clear and free of debris and I swerved off the road as I thought someone had thrown a rock or a ball at my window. I quickly got out of the car and noticed a gaping hole through the mirror but no other damage to any other part of the vehicle. …”

NHTSA complaint #10304326, filed 2010-02, 13,000 miles

“We were driving our 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee on an open road at about 55mph when we heard a loud sound like a muffled gunshot over our heads. No other traffic was in sight and there was nothing overhead. When we pulled over to investigate, we noted that the sunroof was shattered and pooched up, yet intact. Nothing struck the vehicle and it was not impacted from below. We drove it to the nearest dealer we could find with the nav unit a few miles away. We were met with hostility and basically called liars by the service staff when we told them what happened. …”

“A few weeks ago I purchased a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The mechanicals are fine. But there is a very pronounced reflection of the curved dash in the window which is exactly in the line of vision. It is extremely distracting, if not dangerously intrusive. It could be easily fixed if they decrease the size of the gutter around the curved area above the odometer. I have never seen such a pronounced reflection and in such a critical location, and it should be considered a severe design defect. It is pronounced both on sunny and cloudy days.”
