“1. There was a creaking sound coming from under the dashboard from the AC of my 04 Grand Cherokee limited after turning the engine off. 2. It started occurring right around the 50k miles. 3. I was given an estimate, the most expensive being $1500 to replace the blend doors which included removing the dashboard to repair them.”

NHTSA complaint #10352498, filed 2010-08, 50,200 miles

“This is the second time that we have had a problem with windows falling down while driving down the road. The first time the dealership did split the cost of 500.00 with us but not the latest. This seems to be and ongoing problem with this part that is made of plastic. I wish I had known about all the problems with the windows before buying this Jeep.”

NHTSA complaint #10220520, filed 2008-03, 48,000 miles

“During winter months, heat shuts off and turns cold. This happened during a snowstorm and I could not defrost the windshield. I consider this a serious safety issue. I had to stop engine, wait 5 minutes and start engine again. This has happened every time the car is driven. In the summer months, the reverse happens. Suddenly, the air conditioner suddenly throws out hot air.”

NHTSA complaint #10292723, filed 2009-11, 6,500 miles

“Takata recall. The advice is not to drive too much , should I let my wife drive it? My complaint is that there is no thought for the consumer. So why do we have NHTSA? Could you answer that question?”

NHTSA complaint #10863347, filed 2016-05, 157,718 miles

“I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the passenger side heater output went to 'full cold'. Took to dealer and was told 'HVAC door replacement' was necessary at about $1200.00 cost to me. Apparently a pin had broken off where the actuator attaches to the heater door. Entire dash assembly had to be removed, also air conditioner gas had to removed and replaced.”
