“I've always had trouble with my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Especially with the fuel system and fuel pump. I've had to replace my fuel pump 3-4 times. Now its reading the RPM extremely high. I've also had to replace my Jeep's computer because I was told that was the problem. It seems there's also electrical issues. I still can't find the exact problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10749052, filed 2015-08, 100,000 miles

“Without warning my jeeps engine will shut off. It doesn't matter if it is while stopped or driving it will shut off and not turn back on until about 10 minutes later. When it has shut off it will still turn over and I have power to everything I need but it will not fire up. This happened first on a sunny morning driving in town. I towed it back to my house and could not get any codes. It fired up and I thought it was fine so I kept driving it. …”

NHTSA complaint #11197078, filed 2019-04, 127,000 miles

“While driving the vehicle experienced a power loss except for the electrical system. I was unable to control my speed and lost power steering. After 5 seconds, while coasting to a stop, the vehicle resumed full power. Since the first occurrence, it has become more frequent (up to twice a week). In addition, the vehicle will not start randomly and requires a few minutes wait time before a successful start.”

NHTSA complaint #10689654, filed 2015-02, 103,576 miles

“Car started stalling when driving on freeway and engine shut down. This is extremely dangerous. My garage tried all kind of solutions without success as there are no codes showing. There are numerous posting of same incidents on the Jeep forums on the internet. I called the hotline of the NHTSA and spoke to a lady who advised me she had the same problem and got rid of the car immediately!”

NHTSA complaint #10559179, filed 2014-01, 168,000 miles

“After doing wuite alot of research I have found that the 2004 Jeep grand cheerokees have a known stalling problem that cannot be explained. These vehicles stall without warning causing the power steering and power brakes to fail. Creating a huge safety issue for anyone in the immediate area. Every complaint I have seen states that the owners have sunk lots of money and replaced several parts only to have the problem return time and time again. Why has this stalling issue never been addressed, and Jeep held accountable for the repairs? …”
