“I was driving when all of a sudden my vehicle cut off in the middle of traffic. Also, sunday morning I was driving to church when my vehicle would not start. I was told my a mechanic (not on duty) that it could be my fuel pump, wiring or catalytic converter. Please look into this matter as soon as possible.”
NHTSA complaint #11170686, filed 2019-01, 145,000 miles“We were driving Jeep on highway and all was normal. We stopped for fuel and when we started the car it idled very rough and started smoking. Shut car off and upon inspection the rocker arm had been pushed through the valve cover. Appears to be damage to valve but do not know extent of damage yet. Engine had approx. 108,000 miles on it.”
NHTSA complaint #10462917, filed 2012-06, 108,000 miles“A few instances have occurred where I will be driving and the vehicle engine will immediately shut off as the vehicle is in motion. The electrical components (radio, headlights, dashboard, etc) still function but all gauges stop working. I then have to pull over, put the vehicle in park, and then restart the vehicle. It will then start up right away. On a couple of occasions, the vehicle engine has started back up on its own without me doing anything and drives fine after that. …”
NHTSA complaint #11196696, filed 2019-04, 210,000 miles“While driving on the highway at a slow rate of speed (5 MPH) due to a traffic jam, my vehicle overheated. Once towed off the highway, the mechanic diagnosed a fan failure for the radiator which caused the vehicle to overheat. Subsequently there may be damage to the engine caused by the fan failure. I researched this and discovered a recall issued (8/2006) by daimler chrysler for the electric radiator fan (safety recall f25). …”
NHTSA complaint #10563654, filed 2014-02, 168,000 miles“While driving or stationary the engine shuts down on me. It starts again after I wait about an hour or more. I bought this car from the original owner in december 2017. She had all the recalls fixed except for the airbag. Since owning this car I have only driven it 3 times. Granted I took a few months to put it on the road as the weather was cold. I've had extensive work done on it. Tune up, new transmission, belts, pumps, coils, hoses and sensors you name it but it continues to shut off on me. I try to take it for a spin but just putting it in reverse it shuts off. …”
