“One monday the 6th driving north. It was raining. So, I had full 4wheel drive engaged. A car cut me off. I was on the transition from the 5 n to the 55n. A car from the left lane cut into my lane to try and exit onto 4th street. To avoid an accident I slammed on the breaks and veered right. But the car would not stop. I pushing down on the breaks as hard as I could. The car was still accelerating and did not slow down. Trying to obtain control over the vehicle I fishtailed from going right back to left and hit the side of the car and then hit the center divider. …”

“My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited v8 rotors warp every 12k-15k. The conditions worsens the longer I wait to have them repaired. I get strong steering wheel and brake pulsation when applying the brakes, especially at speeds over 40 MPH, but I can feel at speeds as low as 5 MPH. This is definitely a safety concern, I have issues braking at high speeds due to the pulsation.”

NHTSA complaint #10154584, filed 2006-04, 12,000 miles

“The engine cranks and runs fine but after you drive for a while the engine shuts off. It happens while you are driving or coming to a stop. It is random. It usually starts back up and runs fine until next time. When the engine dies, you do not have steering assist or brake assist. It is very hard to steer it off the road. A woman may have a hard time steering it or stopping it. I don't let my wife drive our Jeep much at all. It doesn't matter if you are driving in the city or on the freeway when it decides to shut off. Our Jeep is a 4wd with automatic transmission.”

NHTSA complaint #10984921, filed 2017-05, 155,500 miles

“Bad rotors. My rotors were warped at 13,000 miles, dealer didn't fix, I had resurfaced at my cost. Now 28,000 miles and same problem. I have had many other vehicles and have never once had warped rotors. I'm the only person who drives the Jeep and the claim its bad driving. This hasn't caused an accident yet, but with the violent shaking of the car when braking it very well could.”

NHTSA complaint #10112149, filed 2005-02, 13,000 miles

“The brakes have always been weak, however at 26,000 miles I had to have the brakes resurfaced. My mechanic has the same vehicle and he told me that this was a defect with the brake system, and that eventually the brake system would have to be replaced. Now at 33,000 I need to have the rotors replaced. I have been told every few thousand miles I would have the same problem.”
