“Sudden stalling while driving or at idle. Applicable at all speeds from idle to freeway speeds. Sometimes the vehicle will restart and other times it will not restart right away. Sometimes it will restart if the vehicle sits for about 15 minutes and other times it has left me stranded for three hours or more. I have stalled in the middle of busy intersections and freeways. I have taken the vehicle in for repairs three times, have paid over $400 in repair bills to have parts replaced and the issue still occurs. …”

NHTSA complaint #10971674, filed 2017-04, 168,000 miles

“My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl. 4x4 has had extensive rotor problems leading to replacement of rotors at 19,000 (covered by dealer), 40,000 (at my expense), at 63,520, again at my expense, at 90,000, and now again, replacing all 4 rotors at 363.50 per set at 112,000 miles. This needs to be recalled and investigated immediately.”

NHTSA complaint #10217373, filed 2008-02, 19,000 miles

“On jan. 10, 2007, I was in a head-on collision and my air bags did not deploy. The whole front end of my Jeep was smashed and I have to get a whole new front clip for it. Also, the brakes went all the way to the floor and didn't seem to work properly. I am very upset about these issues and would like to know why the air bags would not deploy in this type of collision.”

NHTSA complaint #10179072, filed 2007-01, 140,000 miles

“Due to faulty rotors, calipers, and brakes which resulted in the well documented shimmy in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredos, I had the dealership replace all components at 70k miles. Now at 121,000; the shimmy is so bad at 40 MPH that I nearly lose control of the vehicle. Looks like another expensive brake job to correct an inherent Jeep defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10164409, filed 2006-08, 120,454 miles

“As I was in park with my vehicle running, my vehicle jumped out of park into reverse and rolled away eventually hitting a woman putting her into the hospital. It also had done damage to the funeral home we were at. I was not in the vehicle at the time. Several times before the incident the car shifter would lock up and not even move out of park.”
