“My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee has had a heater problem. It gets so hot that it can burn my fingers. Then all of a sudden on the passenger side the heat doesn't work it only blows cold air through the vent and on the floor. Also in the trasnmission when you come to a stop you can sometimes feel a loud thump like someone just rear ended you. It happens about 3-4 times a week.”

NHTSA complaint #10110073, filed 2005-02, 57,000 miles

“I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently my band in my transmission broke, so I have no 2nd gear. I brought it to a transmission shop and they told me it happens very often on the make and year of my vehicle. It would be an $1800.00 to $3000.00 fix. As of right now my car wont shift until it reaches 5000 RPM's, since I don't have the money to fix. I was just wondering if it has happened alot on this make and model car if it would be a recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10273755, filed 2009-06, 108,000 miles

“Brandow chrysler notified me that 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission requires replacement. The vehicle has 56,000 miles and has properly maintained. Upon review of similar issues from other 1999/2000 Jeep owners with transmission problems, I am filing this complaint due to lack of notice by brandow or daimler chrysler regarding transmission issues with this vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10100270, filed 2004-11, 55,500 miles

“2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- sudden acceleration -- pulled up to a gas pump, stop went to shift to park and the vehicle suddenly accelerated. If I had not quickly turned off the key I would have gone through the station.”

NHTSA complaint #10267084, filed 2009-04, 46,000 miles

“I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee loredo. Currently I am experiencing severe transmission problems. Everyone I know who owns a Jeep Grand Cherokee is experiencing the same problems with their transmission. My car currently has about 88,000 miles. I have also had to replace 3 of the lock latches within six months. The automatic locks just brake for no reason and are very expensive to be replaced.”
