“I have had to replace my right side brake light assembly four times. For some reason, it continues to go bad. This is getting really expensive and inconvenient, as I continue to get stopped by the police for this problem. I've been told that this has been an issue with many of these trucks. I have had this truck for four years.”

NHTSA complaint #10691877, filed 2015-03, 170,000 miles

“When headlights are on and you step on brakes all rear lights go out. I have now been cited for this twice and warned 3 times. I have had this issue addressed with 2 local mechanics who thought they fixed but yet again this is broken. I am giving all my hard working money in fees for this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10498131, filed 2013-02, 102,000 miles

“My car has major problems and I can't afford to fix, then I find the problem that I have is due to the automaker's problem because the car is on recalls for the problems I am having. I received no notices on any recall, and when I got on the web-site to check for recalls there are as many as 10 major problems with my car and Jeep. Some could cause me to crash or even explode while driving. Where are my recall notices?”

NHTSA complaint #10250735, filed 2008-12, 50,000 miles

“Although no accident yet, I wanted to say that I have never received any notice from FCA about the customer satisfaction campaign (because although the gas tank hangs under the rear bumper, year 2000 was not included in the recall trailer hitch deal). I bought it new and am still living at the same address. I also wanted to note that another issue with the gc is that the brake and tail lights often stop working. The socket gets scorched and you have to go take it apart, pry the contacts up just right and put aluminum foil under them (google Grand Cherokee brake lights). …”

NHTSA complaint #10716561, filed 2015-05, 10,300 miles

“I have had ongoing problems with my brake and tail lights. I have replaced the housing, sockets and bulbs. The bulbs overheat and melt the plastic which causes the lights to malfunction. The tail lights will work sometimes but the brake lights may not work when the tail lights are lit. There have been times when the tail lights don't work and the brake lights do even though they are the same bulb. I have seen other jeeps on the road with the same problem and have seen multiple complaints on internet. I've contacted Jeep and they claim to have no knowledge of the problem.”
