“The blend doors that control the heat for defrosting the windshield for safe clear visibility break about every three years. My vehicle has had this happen three times since I bought the car new. It is always the same thing the needs to be fixed. Plastic material that hold the blend doors break in the same spot. The cost averages $ 1400.00 to repair.”

NHTSA complaint #10501030, filed 2013-03, 40,000 miles

“Driving along the highway when the passenger window started to go down by itself. I had some paperwork in the car and it started blowing around, causing me to become distracted and nearly hitting another car on the highway until I was able to pull over safely. The window regulator failed, which is a common problem with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.”

NHTSA complaint #10332694, filed 2010-05, 92,000 miles

“The defrost only works 50% of the time. Did not work while driving down the highway at 65mph. This was extremely dangerous as I could not see through the windshield. The next day was working fine and a week later I had the same issue. I had the heater core replaced and the issue is still happening.”

NHTSA complaint #10486513, filed 2012-11, 105,874 miles

“I bought my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee used with 51,249 miles I found out after 30 days that my blend door needed to be changed out the dealer where I purchased it was kind enough to split the cost 50% my part $492. Now it has gone out again and you would have thought that it would last more than 2 years what can I do besides trade it in.”

NHTSA complaint #10242772, filed 2008-09, 54,657 miles

“No heat on passenger side in january 2007, september 2007 no air both sides, then november 2007 no heat at all from both sides. The Jeep has been in and out of the dealer all year with many issues, as employee of chrysler , I love my Jeep that I purchased new, just not happy with the repair work needed all the time .”
