“Less than 50,000 miles on my vehicle and the dual climate control on my 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited went out. Same things as thousands of other Jeep owners have experienced. Faulty blend door in the dash went out, cost me 1800 dollars to repair. This happens to every Jeep Grand Cherokee I know of between years 1999-2004. A recall should be issued.”
NHTSA complaint #10218766, filed 2008-02, 42,000 miles“My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the HVAC blend door problem. It blows nothing but cold air and I could not defrost or see out of the windshield while driving. I am sure this will result in death, injury, or property damage, as I do not have the $1500.00 to repair and winter is here. A safety recall needs to be put into effect on these vehicles.”
NHTSA complaint #10248632, filed 2008-11, 113,200 miles“2001 Grand Cherokee ltd does not have heat and A/C does not get as cold as my other cars and trucks. Dealer inspected and told me that Jeep knows of problem defect with materials and design of blend doors and apparatus. Dealer wants $1900 to correct. Local A/C shop did poor job for $1000. Would like Jeep to re-imburse.”
NHTSA complaint #10269066, filed 2009-05, 45,000 miles“My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has now had all four window regulators fail with no apparent reason with an accumulated repair cost topping $1300. Most recently, the regulator on the window next to my infant son failed while traveling on the interstate during an intense thunderstorm, causing the window to fall into the door and soaking my child-quite a distraction at 70mph.”
NHTSA complaint #10245365, filed 2008-10, 91,000 miles“I get no heat coming out of the vents, only cold air. It was 10 degrees this morning and I have a 45 minute drive to work with no heat. Could be a safety issue if I didn't park in a garage. There would be no way of clearing the windshield of ice. Went to the dealer and they tell me it could be at a minimum $1,200 to fix it and then they won't guarantee it will be a permanant fix.”
