“I have been told that blend doors in the HVAC system are made with a thin plastic which easily breaks. When this happens it does not allow the heated air to travel to the ducts going to the defrosters and other areas.since this happened to my car I have researched and found that this has been a problem for many years on the run of this particular vehicle. Something as important as this should last the life of the car.”

NHTSA complaint #10680688, filed 2015-02, 95,000 miles

“When the weather gets cold and I turn the heater it only blows cold air. While driving through atlanta this past tuesday I nearly had an accident because the windows were fogged up. It is impossible to keep the windows from fogging up unless you open the windows (not smart with 35 degrees outside) or you turn the vent, which is the same as opening the windows.”

NHTSA complaint #10294081, filed 2009-11, 127,220 miles

“1. Nothing I did besides driving this Jeep. 2. Everyday 24/7 3. Nothing has been done to fix this problem because I cant afford it. 2003 Jeep blend door issue, live in oregon and with no defrost and only vehicle I can drive at the moment is very dangerous. It get really cold here and snows throughout the winter. Dangerous and freezing cold...”

NHTSA complaint #10253008, filed 2008-12, 39,212 miles

“A/c and heating blower motor and power window motor failure. These problems have occurred in my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. After researching I have found well over 180 people who own grand cherokees (various models) between the years 2000-2004 with these exact same problems. Chrysler/ Jeep customer service will not respond to my comments on this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10168734, filed 2006-09, 50,000 miles

“My 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with electronic dual climate controls and 66,000 miles will only blow cold air. Both blend doors are stuck on full-cold. The fault severely limits my ability to defrost/defog my windshield. According to industry experts I've talked to, the fault is common to all 1999-2004 Jeep grand cherokees. The repairs are exorbitant; estimated at $1,600 to $1,800.”
