“Vehicle randomly will not shift from first gear to second gear. This has caused very high rpm’s in first gear and I have almost been hit from behind each time. I must put flashers on, pull over, shut engine off and restart to clear the issue! It is Very Dangerous! It has been to the dealership to be fixed, but they have been unable to duplicate the issue”
NHTSA complaint #11688395, filed 2025-09“Since Nov 2025 there has been a recall with still no remedy for repair. The recall is a huge safety risk regarding the hybrid battery worrying me about it exploding or catching on fire as it warns me to not charge it in my garage and be careful charging it which is the only reason I purchased this hybrid.”
NHTSA complaint #11752945, filed 2026-07“My cars dash had a lot of lights turn on and my car just shut off while I was driving I took my car to the dealership and was told that they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. About six weeks later my car just turned off again while I was driving but this time only the service hybrid light turned on and quickly turned off. I just called the dealership and will be dropping off my car again.”
NHTSA complaint #11659162, filed 2025-05“Engine Mounts are faulty / victim of design fault. I have had my engine mounts replaced twice within the first 7,000 miles of ownership (at 3,825 miles and again at 6,583 miles). Per my service advisor this is a common issue with all Grand Cherokee models and he anticipates the need to replace them again.”
NHTSA complaint #11615009, filed 2024-09“While stopped at the light with your foot on the brake, the vehicle will accidentally accelerate and almost hit the car in front of you. I looked (my foot was still on the brake). Then, when I try to accelerate, this vehicle fails to get up and go... it's like it's stuck in first or second gear... I avoid the freeway because I'm afraid someone will hit me in the rear end! very dangerous.”
