“The car came with an ipod connector located in the glove box. This feature was not an upgrade that I purchased after I bought the car, it was a feature that came with the car. This feature was also a feature that was very important to me and one of the sole reasons I purchased this edition of the Jeep. About two after the car my entire uconnect system was in operable and so was the ipod connector. I took my car into the south bay Jeep dealer near my home located in torrance, and they resolved it. About two weeks later the uconnect system went out again. …”

“2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee - I have had surfboards cause the factory roof rack to actually tear through the metal roof due to having no reinforcement around the bolts that attach the factory roof rack to the roof of the car. This occurred on the nj garden state parkway at legal parkway speed. Had my two surfboards gone through someone's windshield it could have been a deadly accident. I have surfed for 45 years and never had this problem with any other car. I told the dealer that they should take notice for corrective action to chrysler but they were not interested in doing so. …”

NHTSA complaint #10341312, filed 2010-07, 29,000 miles

“I have just taken ownership of a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 85,000 miles on it and after a few months, the passenger side heat went out and soon afterward the driver side heat went out too. My wife and I took the Jeep up to a Jeep dealership and we were told we were going to have to pay a little over $1,000 to get it fixed. They told us the blend-door actuators went out and that it was a very common problem on Jeep grand cherokees ranging from 1999-2004. We are currently getting the problem fixed and are extremely upset that there has not been a recall for this very costly issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #10250638, filed 2008-12, 85,000 miles

“While traveling at 55 miles per hour on southern blvd. In west palm beach the key turned from the on to the off position. This caused a lockup of the steering and brakes. The automobile returned to full function when the key was turned back to the vertical position. There were no keys or weight hanging from the key and it just clicked off. This condition was recently repaired at arrigo dodge on okeechobee blvd. The key now sticks in the ignition. …”

NHTSA complaint #10585716, filed 2014-04, 129,000 miles

“Vehicle shuts down, engine stalls while driving, also does not start or difficulty starting, seems to lack adequate power..after several attempts, will not work properly. Let vehicle sit, cool down , able to start again, system ok..no dashboard system warnings. I was on interstate 81 south and failure happened. Also, this same failure occurred at 15,000 miles. Todays failure at 30,221 is the second occurrence. Vehicle was towed to scranton dodge Jeep service tonight. Will await vehicle service from dealer.”
