“My panic alarm went off by itself when I was in the store. I shut it off but now I have a message reading gate ajar and all my interior lights are on. It drained my battery and it would not take a charge. I needed to get a new battery. I am still getting the gate ajar reading and lights stay on. I disconnect my battery when I go to work. I have been reading online and apparently this is an ongoing problem with the Jeep Liberty and not just the 2010.”

NHTSA complaint #10985887, filed 2017-05, 119,500 miles

“My 2010 Jeep Liberty sport went on fire. I was stopping at a stop sign and all of a sudden the car started to completely malfunction. The care shut off at the stop sign, the horn went off for about 5 minutes, the windsheild wippers went off, all of the doors locked and I saw smoke from the hood. I didnt know what to do and maybe after about 3 minutes of trying to get doors to unlock they finally did I got out and opened the hood and the whole hood was up in flames. …”

NHTSA complaint #11058209, filed 2018-01, 11,000 miles

“I was driving at night and the headlights just stopped working. I was extremely concerned about my safety as I had no headlights and cars approaching me were flashing me to turn of my headlights. I couldnt pass the ma. Saftey inspection because of this. I brought the car to my mechanic and he has to replace the totally integrated control module at a cost of $900.00. This is absolutly a safety issue and should be recalled!”

NHTSA complaint #10778584, filed 2015-09, 70,000 miles

“Started my vehicle like any other day and suddenly a whole lot of white smoke came out the rear exaust. Then it happened again two days later and again in another day. So I went online to see if there was any problems with white smoke coming out on any 2010 Jeep Liberty and I learned there was a pending investigation involving the totally integrated power module failure and in the description it says there's white smoke present.”

NHTSA complaint #10689735, filed 2015-02, 70,000 miles

“Driving on I-75 my engine light came on. When I got home I called southfield chrysler and they said if it was not blinking, not a big deal just get it checked out. This was a holiday weekend and I did not want to wait. I went to a mechanic in lake orion and some wires had burned through, cylinders were misfiring and I was lucky the engine did not catch in fire there is probably nothing you can do at this late date but I wanted to file a complaint anyway.”
