“I was driving at 25 MPH and suddenly the air bags went off without a collision (right and left curtain and left and right front seat). I've never been on a crash or hit anything in any way to activate the air bags. The air bag light has never been on except for now after the incident. Thankfully I was driving at low speed so I was able to come to a stop without any further incidents. Most of all, I wasn't in the car with my kids, I can't imagine how that could be. I bought this car because I thought it was safe. Nobody told me it was going to self destruct in 10 years, popping like a popcorn. …”
NHTSA complaint #10564243, filed 2014-02, 86,830 miles“I ran off the left side of a mountain road hitting a large tree with the driver's door, then continued down the hill another ~20 feet slamming into a boulder. When I hit the tree, the driver's door window broke as well as the driver's side rear door. The door was jammed shut. The Nissan was equipped with front side impact airbags and both front and rear head protection airbags. None were deployed. When I hit the boulder, the front passenger airbag deployed, but the driver's front airbag failed to deploy. …”
NHTSA complaint #10226557, filed 2008-05, 33,000 miles“Exiting a highway and taking ramp to enter an avenue, driver lost control of the car turning right at intersection. Front left tire hit the curve side and car rolled over 2 full rolls. Driver and passenger had seat bells on. Car body took strong hits on both sides, posts between side windowsroof, windshield frame, hood. Seat bells never locked down during roll over and none of the airbags deployed. Driver and passenger had head, knees and back injuries. It would be expected the seat bells to lock down and at least the side airbags to deployed. Pictures available at your request.”
NHTSA complaint #10824891, filed 2016-02, 88,000 miles“- the contact owns a 2004 Nissan morano. While driving she noticed that the air bag and seat belt warning lights were illuminating and thought they needed to be reset. The vehicle had been parked all day with the window accidentally cracked. It rained that day therefore the interior of the vehicle got wet. While driving home at 40 MPH the passenger's side air bags deployed unexpectedly. The dealer stated that water could have gotten into the sensors and caused the failure. Updated 2/22/2007 - the consumer contacted the manufacturer requesting reimbursement but they denied the request.”
NHTSA complaint #10179510, filed 2007-01, 31,500 miles“I bought a new Nissan Murano 2004 model in february 7th 2004 and met with an accident on 29th march 2004 ...the car was a total loss ...I want to complain about the not opening of airbags in my car at the time of accident...I called Nissan they going to look into ..after follwing for more than two months they cam back with a reply ..they couldn't see my car bcoz of lapse of thier guys ..and now the car is alreday in yard and they cant find it..I tried to report this to police but since the cars involved in an accident were totalled although both of us guys were seemed to be ok at that time. …”
