“While starting my vehicle in the morning, in neutral idle, a clicking sound was coming from under the engine on the driver side. The clicking sound increased as I accelerated the vehicle. Once I pulled over and investigated and found the noise coming from the manifold bolts that have broken/sheared off. Noticed bolts on passenger and driver side are broken.”

NHTSA complaint #11268278, filed 2019-10, 190,000 miles

“I purchased this truck used and had to replace broken exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head bolts which had sheared off. I had both sides replaced (all bolts with new) and new manifold gaskets. Within a year there was the exhaust leak upon startup. I have heard from many hemi v8 owners that this is very common and can affect the ability to pass the required biannual smog check.”

NHTSA complaint #11132851, filed 2018-10, 85,000 miles

“Has occurred 3 times within 30 days. At low speeds between 15mph and 35mph, engine stops, gauges go dead and aprox 6 seconds later the transmission slams into park. 1st time it happened I was lightly breaking & coasting for a stop light; 2nd time I was cruising about 35mph; and 3rd time I was accelerating from a dead stop across 4 lanes of traffic. …”

NHTSA complaint #10672562, filed 2015-01, 26,000 miles

“Engine check, traction control, anti-skid lights comes on with a message throttle control requires service. The engine losses all power or stalls making vehicle difficult to control, stop and get out of traffic. I have replaced the throttle control while the check engine light was on , it did not correct the problem. After the truck sits for a day or two all problems clear. 4-23-2019 is my third incident in 4 months.”

NHTSA complaint #11203135, filed 2019-04, 72,000 miles

“Recently had my truck in for routine service and the technician diagnosed my truck with broken exhaust manifold bolts. Truck has 79,000 miles on it. After researching on line I have discovered this is a common problem. Is there an investigation regarding this issue and a possible recall since it happens so often? The truck makes a ticking sound when it is started and gradually gets better as the manifold gets warm.”
